I’ve just realized that one of my favourite science fiction series (of course, of Asimov) has a partially panentheistic ending.
One of the most influential science fiction series of all times, the Foundation series of Isaac Asimov (that had a significant effect on world famous entrepreneur Elon Musk and Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman, among others, including me) has a partially panentheistic ending and culmination. In the final books (Foundation’s Edge and Foundation and Earth) humankind and artificial intelligence together make a decision to create a galaxy-wide super-organism, Galaxia which will have a group consciousness and include all lifeforms and non-living substance in the galaxy. Though God taken out of the picture (Asimov, though a child of Orthodox Jews and writer of a book about the Bible, and God appears in many of his writings, was an atheist), it’s obvious for me that it should be a potential next step in our journey towards God. The more we join forces, the closer we get to God: His love and wisdom.
